Basics from The Farmhouse Kitchen

There are a few basic recipes and tricks that I use almost daily in our Farmhouse Kitchen.  They allow me to pull together quick meals with dependable results and to control what’s in those meals to work around our food allergies and dietary needs. They’re the foundation for most of our favorite recipes.

You’ll find those recipes and how to posts below.  You can learn how to make velvety smooth mashed potatoes by understanding the starch molecules in potatoes, file away the simple way to make an allergy safe cake flour, learn how to make a delicious loaf of bread even if you’ve never been successful making one before, and learn why and how I make bone broth to add delicious flavor and a boost of nutrition to most of my savory recipes.

Armed with these foundational recipes that are simple and adaptable, you’ll be able to create your own recipes that are tailored to your family’s dietary needs and preferences. I hope that you’ll give them a try and tell me how they worked for you because I’ll use your experiences to keep adding new recipes to our collection.

Our farmhouse and our recipes are nut free and shellfish free.  Food allergies became a part of our lives more than a decade ago, so you won’t find any peanuts, tree nuts, or shellfish in our recipes. If you don’t live with nut allergies, you can add your favorite nuts to our baking recipes with equally delicious results!
