A Year of Gratitude – January 4, 2024

Today’s gratitude was delayed, more of an evening gratitude than a morning version. I woke up early and got to work preparing for our first big winter storm of the season. There was much to do and I found myself immersed in the doing.

It was late afternoon before I took a break. I was exhausted from the day’s chores and it was time to do my evening farm chores and make family dinner.

When I finally settled in on the couch with Penny Lane, a cup of hot tea, and my knitting project, I remembered that I hadn’t shared my morning gratitude with you. As I started to write this post, I realized that today’s gratitude was for this cozy place I call home.

Having a home is something to be grateful for. Having family to share it with is another. Spending your days caring for the people you love most and the place you call home is a gift that I have been fortunate enough to be given.

That’s what I did today. It’s the sort of work that fills me with gratitude and gives my day meaning. So I find myself in this cozy spot tonight filled to the brim with gratitude just for being here, exhausted by the work of preparing this old house and my loved ones for the Nor’easter ahead and so grateful to have done it.

I hope that you are cozy tonight and that gratitude found you today.
