A Year of Gratitude – January 21, 2024

I found my gratitude in the kitchen today as I was making a loaf of bread for our Sunday dinner. I started mixing up the dough mid-morning. I tended to the dough all day until it was time to bake.

There’s something so calming and meditative about making bread. It’s magical to transform a few humble ingredients into a loaf of bread, to watch dough become a loaf.

Bread making takes patience. It can’t be rushed. It also takes faith in your skill and baker’s intuition. You have to trust yourself and believe that your work will result in a loaf of beautiful and delicious bread.

My gratitude was for the reminder to trust myself more freely, to believe in my abilities, and to be patient. I found more gratitude when that combination resulted in a delicious loaf of bread for my family to enjoy at our dinner table.

I hope that you found your gratitude today and that the day treated you kindly.
