Introducing 1840 Farm’s The Notebook

Look closely and you’ll see the first glimpse of something you’ve been asking about for years. I kept telling myself that we’d work on it someday. No, it’s not the calendar or the wheel cipher. It’s the first glimpse of The Notebook, a publication full of everything you’ve come to love about 1840 Farm.

If there’s a single lesson that the last year has taught me (and there have been dozens), it’s that we’re not guaranteed a someday. While I’m waiting around to steel my will to try something new, time is passing me by. Months from now, I won’t be sorry that I tried something new but I am certain to wish that I had already started something I have dreamed of doing for so long.

So, welcome to someday. You’ve been asking me over and over again to create a printed publication for you and I listened. We’re going to embark on our biggest adventure yet in 2021 and create the kind of publication I have always wanted to make for you.

Unlike most publications, this one won’t be created by a publishing house. It won’t have a staff working round the clock to generate content and sell ads. We’re hoping that it won’t need to contain ads at all. Instead, it will be a labor of love created entirely from the farmhouse. We hope that will be a distinction that matters to you as much as it does to us.

We’ll be creating The Notebook entirely from scratch right here at the farmhouse. My daughter has pledged her help. My family will be testing the recipes, proofing my writing, and shipping out copies once they are a reality. It’s a big dream, but there’s no time like today to take that first step.

I hope that you’re ready to help us to make The Notebook into exactly what you have been waiting so patiently for. We want to know what sort of content you’d like to see, what kind of stories you’re hoping that we’ll tell, and what sort of physical (or digital) form you would like us to create for you. We’ll be asking for your help to shape it into something fabulous and can’t wait to hear what you have to say.

It’s officially someday and we’re taking the first step by asking you an important question. What do you hope that The Notebook will be?
