Portfolio

I published my first blog post on August 27, 2010. It was my lifelong dream to be a writer, especially if that writing could involve my favorite topic: food. As a full time stay at home mom with young children, I craved a creative outlet that was my own and that could fit into the rare quiet moments in my days.

This blog provided me with a space to develop my writing skills and share a slice of my world. When I pressed the “publish” button the first time, I believed that no one outside of my immediate family would ever read the words I had chosen. I couldn’t have dreamed that I would find myself still writing and sharing even larger slices of my life through this blog and on social media all these years later. I wouldn’t have believed you if you had told me that more than 25,000 people would be following along.

I took a step back from freelance writing several years ago to focus on the needs of my family and our small farm. During those years, I continued to practice the craft of writing while strengthening my voice. I worked to cultivate an audience of engaged readers, followers, and subscribers.

Now that my children are older and the farm is more established, I am adding freelance work back into my schedule. I am seeking freelance writing, food styling, and recipe development work. I am open to other opportunities as they present themselves.

This portfolio of work highlights my freelance work for print and digital magazines and online communities. I have also included samples of my work published here for 1840 Farm. That content includes writing that is public to all visitors and exclusive content written for our Farmhouse Friends Subscribers. For more information or to see additional samples of my work, please send me a message.
