A Year of Gratitude – November 25, 2024
My gratitude was waiting in the frosty garden this morning. We woke up to a temperature right at freezing. As I headed outside to tend to the animals, I could see my breath. I can count the mornings this cold so far this season on one hand. It was chilly.
As I walked over towards the chicken coop, I could see a thin layer of frost on the ground. As I rounded the corner, I looked down and saw these leaves holding on to the intricate patterns the frost had left behind.
The sun was shining by this time, hitting the frost, highlighting it as if a spotlight was shining their way. They had almost a golden hue to them. It was as if they were coming awake as the sun began to shine on them.
I knew that the sunshine would melt away the beautiful pattern of frost. If I had been a few minutes later, I might have missed it or at least not seen it this clearly. I was so glad that I had, that I had been there to see it and that I had noticed it at all. What a shame it would have been to miss something so beautiful.
