A Year of Gratitude – October 25, 2024

It’s easy to find gratitude in beautiful things. At least, it should be. I found mine in this view from inside the car just driving down the highway.

No, I wasn’t driving while taking the photo. I was riding in the passenger seat. I looked out and saw the space where the clouds and bright blue sky touched the top of the White Mountains and was taken by just how beautiful the trees are this time of year.

True, it’s easier to find reasons to be grateful when you’re looking at something grand. But you do still have to look upon it, choose to see it as grand and beautiful. So often, life is so busy that I forget to take it in.

I’m trying to be better about that. I’m doing what I can to notice the things around me that are worthy of me seeing them as the grand and glorious creations that they are. These trees, this mountain, helped to remind me that doing so is well worth the effort.

Just look at all the beauty I would have missed. I’m so glad that I didn’t.
