A Year of Gratitude – October 19, 2024
I have my mom to thank for giving me something delicious to be grateful for today. She baked a scrumptious pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. Lucky for us, she shared half of it with us so that we could enjoy it.
The cake was light and delicious and the frosting had just the right amount of sweetness to compliment the pumpkin. It was such a lovely treat on this beautiful fall day.
More than the yummy flavor, I was grateful to be reminded that I have people in my life who love me enough to make something and share it with me. That’s the loveliest of feelings.
There’s a good reason that we often celebrate our best moments and try to lift each other’s spirits in difficult times with food. Sure, the food nourishes our bodies, but the more important task is to fill ourselves with the reminder that people care about us. That’s the sort of nourishment for the mind, heart, and soul that we can all use a bit of.
I needed just that sort of nourishment today. I was so lucky to receive it. With each bite, I was thankful to have people in my life who share their love with me by sharing themselves with me. I hope that they feel the same way about me.
