A Year of Gratitude – September 2, 2024

I found my gratitude in you today. I found it in this community, this group of people who can find it in themselves to be kind and supportive of each other every day.

I woke up to an unwelcome discovery. Our Facebook page had been suspended under the suspicion of impersonation. Luckily, it was temporary. A few hours after I requested a review, it was granted and everything was put back into place.

In the time between my discovery and the moment I received the notification that the review had concluded that there was no violation, I thought about what I would do if my work over so many years was wiped away.

The situation was beyond my control. I knew that I hadn’t done anything to cause it. I hadn’t violated any rules. I certainly hadn’t impersonated anyone. Yet I was powerless. All I could do was wait.

There are much greater tragedies in the world today. So many. But I was filled with sadness at the thought of losing touch with our community. It would be such a loss for me. I’m thankful that all was well before the day was out.

So, right now I am filled with gratitude to be here with you. I’m glad that each of you is here, that you spend part of your day with me and with each other. You inspire me to keep looking for beauty to share with you, to keep creating, and keep sharing with you. You are a bright spot in all of my days and I’m so lucky to spend my days with you.
