A Year of Gratitude – May 10, 2024
I found my gratitude with a shovel in my hand today. While I wasn’t planning on it, I ended up spending the entire day working outside on yard projects. I ended the day tired from the work, but thankful that we had completed so much of it.
I had plenty of help. Three generations were outside working together today on these projects. The saying goes that, “many hands make light work” and I felt that today. I also felt how lucky I am to have my family working with me. Their company and assistance can turn a chore into something enjoyable.
It sure did today. We had a cool day with intermittent sunshine. The birds were singing overhead and flitting about as we worked. Penny Lane was keeping a watchful eye over our progress from her favorite window.
It’s nice to work on a project and feel a sense of pride from what you have accomplished at the end of a long day. It’s even nicer to feel that sense of pride spill over onto people that you love and care about. I was lucky enough to feel both today.
And, in case you were wondering, yes, I did leave that dandelion alone while we worked. I don’t mind dandelions at all. I see a bright yellow flower that rolls out the welcome mat for pollinators to come back to our yard year after year.
