A Year of Gratitude – November 5, 2024

It’s amazing how something small can fill me with so much gratitude. Today, it was this wee little pumpkin. Looking at it now, hours later, still brings a smile to my face.

I was taking photos of pieces for our shop when I sat this pumpkin on a stack of fall coasters. I found myself really taking in the color of this pumpkin, the way that the sunlight coming in the window highlighted the texture on its skin.

It’s really quite remarkable when you stop to really look at it. Yet I had never looked this closely at it in the weeks that it has been here in the studio. Not until today.

I’m so glad that I did. It reminded me that I want to pay more attention to the little things, the small moments, in my days. For me, they are where the magic is. There’s something special about appreciating these small things that are so often overlooked. It feels like a bit of magic to see in them something wonderful. I want more magic in my days, so I need to start looking for it.
