A Year of Gratitude – November 18, 2024
I found my gratitude in the studio today. I spent most of the day sewing while Penny Lane snored on her bed nearby. That alone would be enough reason for gratitude.
There’s something special about stitching together holiday pieces. For me, that applies to the holidays throughout the calendar, but especially all of the big family holidays from Thanksgiving through the end of the year.
I watched as a fall themed trivet took shape and hoped that it might find its way underneath a dish on someone’s Thanksgiving table. I’d love to think that it would be in a room with lively conversation, laughter, and delicious Thanksgiving dishes.
Then I moved on to a few egg basket ornaments and Christmas baskets. I smiled at the thought of someone placing one of the little ornaments on their holiday tree each year. It really is such a gift to be able to make these pieces with my family so that they can be enjoyed by other families and made a part of their unique family celebrations and traditions.
I have been making these holiday pieces for more than a decade now. I hope that those of you who have invited them into your homes are enjoying them again this holiday season. And yes, I hope that they’ll be among laughter and warm holiday memories in the making again this year.
