A Year of Gratitude – November 15, 2024
I found my reason for gratitude in what was a simple, ordinary moment today. I was dropping off a few orders at our local post office. I was trying to get home before dark, doing my best to cross another few to dos off my long list.
I was walking from my car to the front door when I looked up and saw this. The moon was full and over the rooftop of the city building across the street. This photo simply doesn’t do the moon that I saw justice. Not even close.
The sky was a soft purple that faded to blue and then pink as it came near the buildings downtown. It added a soft glow to everything it touched. Even the windows of the buildings had taken on a lovely shade of turquoise.
Traffic rushed by. People walked along the sidewalk, hurrying to their next task just as I was. I stood there for a few moments to take it in. I wanted to make sure that I really saw it, appreciated it before the sky grew dark enough to cover the beauty, except the moon, and make it impossible for me to see it.
I am sure that patrons walking in and out of the post office wondered what I was doing, standing there, looking towards the sky. I’m only sorry that they didn’t see it. I am so glad that I did. It was so beautiful.
