A Year of Gratitude – November 1, 2024
I found my gratitude in what will most likely be the final bloom of the season here in our gardens. There’s always something special about the first bloom of the spring and the last bloom of fall.
This year, the last bloom reached November, something I would say was unheard of if it hadn’t happened last year on the rosebush right next to this one that bloomed on October 28th last year. It’s still astounding to me that they can find the energy to bloom this late in the season.
This rosebud was so perfect in the warm morning sunshine. A few raindrops were hanging on from yesterday’s rain. The petals were so beautifully furled, just beginning to open.
It felt as though it had been waiting for me in the garden. I know that isn’t really true. It’s more like it was in the garden and I was waiting for me to notice it. Either way, I’m so happy to have seen it, to have witnessed how beautiful it was in that moment early this morning. I’m so glad that I didn’t miss the last bloom of the season.
