A Year of Gratitude – October 16, 2024
I found my gratitude while being a spectator today. I watched while this bee worked furiously in our raspberry patch. It was cold, but the sun was shining brightly. I hoped that the sunshine would warm up this little garden visitor.
We have a frost warning tonight. It’s a sure sign that the growing season has come to an end. With a little luck, we’ll see a few more tomatoes and be able to hold over the sturdy herbs like rosemary and thyme. It won’t be long until they are finished for the year too.
I hope that this bee will be cozy and safe this evening when the temperature dips near freezing. I hope that the hive, wherever it is, will be prepared for the cold so that the bees can survive the cold months ahead.
And I hope that I’ll be watching bees and other pollinators work in our garden again next year on a sunny day when I can be a spectator and marvel at their amazing work.
