A Year of Gratitude – August 7, 2024

Gratitude can be so easy to find in the garden even on a rainy day. First, I was thankful that I didn’t need to water the garden. That would have been enough to set my day off in a good direction.

Beautiful flowers in bloom gave me dozens of more reasons to be grateful. Among them was this beautiful lily. Many of the lilies have finished blooming for the year, but a few that stand in the shade of the old barn are still setting new blooms.

This one was such a pretty color of pink with a yellow center that drew my eye right to the middle of its petals. Each petal curled backwards as if someone had set each of them to match.

Nature really is something to marvel at. The colors, shapes, and combinations of the two give me so many reasons to find joy right here in our garden. Today, it was this lily.

Tomorrow, this lily will have spent most of its time already. That’s the shame of daylilies. They last such a short time. Yet it is probably why they are so striking. I know that they won’t last long, so I pay attention to them while they are in bloom.

They refuse to be ignored and won’t wait for me to find the time to appreciate them. So, I’ll make the time on their schedule and be grateful that I did.
