A Year of Gratitude – August 14, 2024
Gratitude isn’t always easy to find. That’s not because there aren’t reasons for gratitude. Sometimes, a day puts so many obstacles in the way that I just can’t seem to find the things I am grateful for.
That may not make sense, but it’s true. I know that I have so much to be grateful for. I am grateful every single day for a fresh new day and for my family. I feel that gratitude every single day.
I’m talking about the innumerable small reasons to be thankful. Those can be difficult to find, to name, on a day that doesn’t seem to be going my way.
A day like that can make it hard to focus on looking for small, ordinary reasons for gratitude. Yet those are the days when I need them the most. That sort of day finds me in a place where I must find something in my path that fills me with gratitude.
Today was that sort of day. I needed a reminder. When I came upon this hydrangea, I found it. How could I be anything but grateful to be standing in a place where I could fix my eyes on such beauty? It might seem oversimplified, but just seeing this flower helped me to reorient my day, to take a deep breath and keep putting one foot in front of the other.
I hope that you find beauty and gratitude in your day today. If you have trouble finding it, I hope that this pretty hydrangea helps you in the way that it helped me.
