A Year of Gratitude – July 30, 2024
My gratitude was growing in the tomato patch today. I started my morning early, working my way through my morning farm chores. As I did, I found this Black Prince tomato ripening on the vine.
As a gardener, there’s nothing that fills me with more pride than a ripe tomato. Seeing a tomato begin to ripen means that moment is drawing near.
I could feel my steps lighten after seeing it. I felt gratitude wash over me in a way that seemed to clear away a bit of the worry I had been carrying about something ahead of me.
Yes, I know that this is only a tomato. It isn’t even ripe yet. But that’s exactly what helped me today. It was a reminder that every day we are closer to that moment. Even when we can’t visually see the progress, it’s there.
I’ll keep putting one foot in front of the other. And each morning, I’ll check on this tomato until it is perfectly ripe and ready to pick.
