A Year of Gratitude – July 22, 2024

I found my gratitude in a zinnia bloom this morning. I had just watered the garden and each petal seemed to be holding on to the water.

I’ve long been drawn to taking photos of water droplets on flower petals, but this water was different. Instead of individual droplets, the water was painted across the entire surface of each petal. It was as if the whole flower had been dipped in water.

The result was these shiny petals. They looked so pretty, even in a cloudy moment. If you look closely, you’ll see a single drop clinging to the underside of a petal. It seems to be just waiting for gravity to pull it down to the ground below.

If I hadn’t been out in the garden, looking with open eyes for beauty to share with you, I might have missed it. I might have found myself too busy hurrying through my morning chores to notice.

So, I guess that I have you to thank for taking the time to see this bit of beauty. Thank you for being here, for giving me a reason to look for beauty and gratitude each day so that I can share it with you.

I hope that you find both in good measure today and that the day ahead is kind to you.
