A Year of Gratitude – June 17, 2024
I found my gratitude in the garden today. This gorgeous foxglove is blooming in the garden adjacent to our old barn. My mom planted it near our grand hydrangea a few years ago.
I don’t ever remember it being this beautiful. The colors and markings seem extraordinary this year. It’s just glorious.
When the raindrops were clinging to the flowers, I couldn’t help but grab my phone and head outside to try and take a few photos of them. I got soaking wet and it was worth it.
It’s easy to find gratitude when looking at something this beautiful. Yet my gratitude was for more than its beauty. I was grateful for the reminder that I have new things to discover, new sights to see.
I’m 51, an age when I have seen my fair share of things both beautiful and unsightly. I have been in awe of kindness and in disbelief at cruelty. It comes with the experience of living decade after decade.
So, I was delighted when this vibrant flower reminded me that there are untold wonders yet to be discovered. Some of them might grow right in our own garden. I sure hope that they will because I can’t wait to see them.
