From the Farm Blog Hop – My Weekly Favorite: Peppermint Oreo Truffle Recipe

FTF Banner - 9 blogs - final

Welcome to the December 20th edition of the From the Farm Blog Hop. I found so many fantastic holiday ideas and recipes last week. In fact, many of those recipes have been added to my baking list for the weekend. I am willing to bet that I’ll find at least a few more to add from this week’s hop!

Each week the From the Farm Blog Hop co-hosts welcome a fellow blogger to come join in the fun and guest host along with us. This week’s guest host is Rick from City Boy Hens! Welcome Rick!!

 photo 038_zps8e96cfe9.jpg

I am a Country Boy who is trapped in a City Boy’s body! In order to get my “fix”, I keep 3 chickens in my backyard in Ontario, Canada where they are protected by our yellow lab Stanley (when he is not taking one of his many daily naps). I also enjoy making a lot of traditional Italian foods like sausage, salami, olives and specialty breads. In between being a husband, father and “pretend” farmer, I also try to find time to grow some vegetables and raise honeybees at our cottage in Northern Ontario.

Happy Holidays and welcome to the November 29th edition of the From the Farm Blog Hop! Here at 1840 Farm, we enjoyed a wonderful holiday around our family farmhouse table. We enjoyed delicious dishes and made a few new family holiday memories. I hope that you enjoyed a holiday filled with family, friends, and your favorite holiday dishes. Now on to this week’s hop!

Each week the From the Farm Blog Hop co-hosts welcome a fellow blogger to come join in the fun and guest host along with us. This week’s guest host is Lesa from Better Hens and Gardens! Welcome Lesa!!

 photo HeadShotWebSized_zps5a0c9166.jpg

I’m Lesa Wilke (it sounds like Lisa) and I live with my husband on a small, 10 acre farm in Northeastern Ohio called Bramblestone Farm. We believe that food grown locally without antibiotics, hormones, artificial fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides is important, so we try to produce their own without these additives. We raise Buckeye chickens for meat and eggs, Nigerian Dwarf goats for milk, honey bees for honey, and grow various fruits and vegetables. I created the blog Better Hens and Gardens to help other rural-minded folks transition to more self-sufficient, sustainable lifestyles that include real food, and to follow our journey on Bramblestone Farm. Please join us on the blog and farm sites!

I’m the homesteading, homeschooling, homemaking mother of five children and wife to one long suffering man. I passionately study and practice various homesteading methods and topics from backyard farm animals to homemade textiles to gardening to bee keeping – anything we can do to be more self sufficient, we seek after these things. There’s always a project going on around here – just ask the long suffering man. I am an advanced master gardener through USU extension (my weeds say I’m doing a great job with that), am slowly working towards becoming a master herbalist and have recently founded the Salt Lake County seed swap. Just typing that was exhausting but I love finding ways to build my family, my home and my community. I’ll sleep later…

Elaine is an urban farm girl living in the suburbs of Los Angeles. Sunny Simple Life is a love all things family and home. She strives to keep life simplified and believes contentment is the key to happiness. She has been homeschooling for 17 years and had kids in her 20s, 30s and 40s. Dinner is at five everyday and taking the the best care of her family is her number one priority.

She grows as much as she can in a city garden and has become an expert at mixing fruit and veggie production while keeping garden beds flowering. It all works together. Her chicken coop fits perfectly in my small backyard and she loves sharing how despite living in a city, you can strive to create a sustainable landscape for your yard.

Elaine blogs over at Sunny Simple Life and shares all things home and garden – sharing recipes, family, gardening, frugal ways and housekeeping tips.

Happy Friday everyone! Welcome to the September 13th edition of the From the Farm Blog Hop. From the Farm Blog Hop

Happy Friday and welcome to this week’s version of the From the Farm Blog Hop! The extended holiday weekend promises to bring pounds of ripe heirloom tomatoes into our farmhouse straight from the garden. We’ll also be visiting a local pick your own, family owned orchard to take advantage of the fresh peaches that are in season. After you take a look at the collection of peach recipes featured in today’s hop, you might want to arm yourself with a few bushels yourself!

Each week the From the Farm Blog Hop co-hosts welcome a fellow blogger to come join in the fun and guest host along with us. This week’s guest host is Shanyn from Fresh From Home! Welcome Shanyn!!

Shanyn writes on her blog from the perspective of a farm girl that is stuck in the suburbs, doing what she can with what she has. She writes about the journey of learning to live frugally and sustainably on a small suburban backyard and home in Colorado. She shares what she learns about small space gardening, preserving the harvest, raising backyard chickens and rabbits, and making as much of your own household and personal care products as possible. She has a full time job and a family that includes 2 children and a fabulous husband that are on this journey together.

Shanyn and her family are working towards becoming debt-free in order to purchase a place to expand on their dream of having a true working farm. She is passionate about supporting local farmers and shares with others what she learns about why this is so important for our culture today.

Shanyn has been featured in an international magazine called Your Chickens, many online blog forums, and is really just getting started! She is someone who has a passion and heart for animals and working the land, as well as the motivation for doing the best you can with what you have.
