From the Farm Blog Hop #39

>Happy Friday and welcome to this week’s From the Farm Blog Hop. Each week the From the Farm Blog Hop co-hosts welcome a fellow blogger to come join in the fun and guest host along with us. This week’s guest host is Angie from Chicken Scratch Poultry! Welcome Angie!

I’m Angie McEwen, my husband Larry and I live on a 16 acre farm in the rural town of McLeansboro Ill. We raised three children here and now we raise chickens. We run Chicken Scratch Poultry breeding farm with rare and usual breeds. Larry and I have been in the poultry business for 8 years now. My motto is if your going to have chickens they might as well be beautiful and lay a pretty egg. We have 11 different breeds that we offer. We sell chicks, hatching eggs, young pullets and ship all over the US, Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
Breeding poultry takes a lot of time, effort, space and knowledge of the birds your breeding. It is a continuous learning experience with never a dull moment. Larry works a full time job and I stay home and sell chickens but when Larry gets home from work he puts in another 2 to 4 hours of work on the farm. It’s a labor of love and we work well together.
I just recently began writing our blog with Melissa Schlag my niece. We’re having a lot of fun working on this together. She is new to raising chickens and it is so fun for me to watch a newbie as she learns the chicken lingo.
